(Note:  The true meaning of the Holy Grail is explained in the video and book on this website.)

Mary Magdalene was not the Holy Grail.  If we take a measured look at the story about Mary we can easily see this.

In Dan Brown’s bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code, Da Vinci’s painting of the last supper is analysed by an old symbologist.  He correctly points out that there is no picture of a chalice on the table at the supper, and this is cited as evidence that the Grail is not a physical artefact.  This is fair enough in one sense.  Nevertheless, there is no reason to expect that Christ was not a real person, and yes he died, and for certain there would have been a last supper.  And yes he would have used a cup to drink from.  There is nothing mysterious here.  But that cup was just a cup, nothing more.  It had none of the magical properties as described in the Arthurian Romances.  The symbologist is right in concluding that the Grail is not the chalice from The Last Supper, but his conclusion of what the Grail actually is, is not correct.

A character in The Last Supper is then shown to be female.  Again, this is fair enough - why not?  It isn’t mysterious.  Christ would have known many women, and there is no reason to think that one of them couldn’t have made it to the last supper.  We may never know for sure, but actually we don’t need to know.  Perhaps that person in the painting was  Mary Magdalene.  It really doesn’t matter, because this is still not the Grail.

The symbologist points out that Christ and the woman are wearing similar clothes.  Perhaps this really was a clue to show the woman was significantly close to Jesus.  And then the v-shape made by the space between the two people is said to depict the Grail. No, we haven’t found the Grail yet.  (See the Youtube video below for more on the analysis of Da Vinci’s The Last Supper  and Mary Magdalene.)

In fact, this thread of the story about Mary Magdalene originates in some 20th century hoaxes which revolved around the blood line of Christ (see the pages on The Da Vinci Code and Holy Blood and the Holy Grail on this site for more.)  The story was perpetuated by unscrupulous fraudsters, who sadly took humanity away from the true nature of the Grail.

If we look at this thread objectively, none of this explains the symbol of the chalice as described in the legends.  The symbol of the chalice has been ignored by these fantasies.  But when we look closer, we can find that it does have a meaning.

The Grail has evaded a solution for so long because people have been distracted by these falsehoods.  But we can carve away at the illusions in true Arthurian style.  For to find the Grail we have to simply follow the truth.  The quest for the Grail is in fact the quest for truth.

In the study offered in the video and book on this site, we are provided with a radical new look at the mystery.  The past interpretations are debunked and a new explanation provided which holds water from a scientific as well as spiritual perspective.

In The Da Vinci Code, the lead character is the symbologist who discovers the alleged secret about Mary Magdalene and the Grail.  We now have the opportunity to be real life symbologists; we can discover a meaning which was previously lost in the mists of time.  The solution is here...
