Previous documentaries often revolved around the Da Vinci Code, which in turn was influenced by the book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, by Baigent, Leigh and Lincoln. This in turn was built upon a hoax set up in France in the mid 20th century. Documents were forged which alleged that a fictitious organisation, The Priory of Sion, was hiding facts about the bloodline of Jesus Christ.
As a result of this hoax and the two bestseller books which derived from it, humanity was led further from the Grail.
