Can we find the Grail?  Indeed, who, if anyone, has found the Holy Grail?

 

The good news is it can be found.  The best guide is to look at the video, DVD book  or ebook from this site - follow the links.

 

How do we find it?  Well, legend says that the Grail is found by those who are pure in heart.  Or to put it another way, it has been said to be invisible to evil or unworthy eyes, and it presents itself to those who are worthy.  Is there any sense to this aspect of the grail legend, or is it just a fairy story that we should enjoy, and think nothing more of?

 

In fact, there seems to be some sense to it.  The video and book from this site look at spiritual purity from a scientific perspective, for scientists, that is psychologists spend much of their time looking into what it means to be spiritually pure.  The flip side of purity, the dark side of human nature has a name in psychology - it is personality disorder.  Personality disorder is the selfish side of us, and it perhaps exists in every person on earth.  In fact nature made us selfish, through our genes: it is a good survival trait.  But in this mysterious adventure we call life, we are pulled in two directions - by good or evil, light or dark, altruism or personality disorder.  This pull between purity and impurity was described in the story Perceval, the Story of the Grail, by Chretien de Troyes (1181-1191)

 

Perceval spends a night at the castle of the Fisher King.  At the meal, in-between courses he sees a mystical site.  A procession of men and women pass by carrying wonderful objects.  One of the objects is a graal, or platter, which bears a communion wafer.  The magical apparition is not to last, for in the morning Perceval awakes alone in the woods, and the castle of the Fisher King is no longer there.

 

The knights of King Arthur’s Round Table are said to find or lose the grail depending on their spiritual purity.

 

How does this relate to our everyday experiences?  Well it seems, from what I can observe that spiritual purity really is important to find the grail.  Yes, I claim to have made some headway in discovering what the grail really is, and curiously I have also been on the path to purity, since the age of about 15.

 

I have learned, however, that purity is hard to attain; much harder than I realised.  I should also state that I am not pure.  So if I am not pure, how could I have found the grail?

 

Spiritual purity comes and goes.  There are moments when we can act with perfect virtue - be totally pure, for example at the moment when we give time or work to a charitable cause.  But then, being the humans that we are, we can sometimes step backwards a little and drift again towards impurity.

 

Purity is like Mount Everest.  We can know what the mountain is, but never have been there ourselves - understanding the concept but never actually attaining it.  Then again, the people who do reach the summit of Everest, never stay there for long.  They soon descend again to the lower ground.

 

To stand a chance of finding the Grail, we have to maximise the time we spend on the higher spiritual ground.

 

I have to say, that from my own personal quest for purity and the Grail, attaining total purity is harder than I thought.  I am not pure, and I probably never will be.  Nevertheless, it is curious to me how I have been on the path to purity, and by strange coincidence, I did eventually stumble across the Grail.
